RockanjEscape was a small, independent escape room with one space in the beach town Rockanje on Voorne, opened in June 2016 in a genuine former butcher shop on Molendijk. In The Butcher you crept through a dilapidated village butcher's shop where people kept disappearing: the butcher is gone for exactly one hour and your team must find evidence before he returns. Despite the eerie name, the room was deliberately not scary but a search game with combination locks in which the authentic building — down to the waiting area and restroom — carried the atmosphere. Visitors gave around 8/10 and especially praised the warm welcome and excellent hint guidance from the owner; experienced players felt that almost every puzzle led to a code for a lock. The website is offline and the room is listed as permanently closed — the quiet end of a charming small-town room.
