About this venue
Started in Barendrecht as Houdini Escaperoom and now relocated to Poortugaal, where it operates as Escaperoom City with four rooms in collaboration with illusionist Christian Farla. The flagship remains the Houdini room: it's 1929, and invited by widow Bess Houdini, you search Harry's secret workshop for the lost codebook with all his escape tricks — before his spirit returns. The setting with period posters, chains and original magic props is widely praised as beautiful, and the welcome as superb; the themed hint system fits the fiction nicely. There is criticism too: at the old location escapetalk scored just 6.2, with complaints about hard-to-understand or late hints, broken props and puzzles that don't connect smoothly. After the move, the picture looks much better (9.1 on escaperoomsnederland, 73 reviews), though puzzle quality remains the weaker sibling to the strong staging.
