Escape Room Alphen aan den Rijn was a small venue with one room on Energieweg, opened in 2017 with De Egyptische Tombe: an Indiana Jones-inspired '4D escape adventure'. The room stood out with 4D effects — music, vibrations, cold air and smoke at story moments — and the deliberate absence of classic number locks. Visitors loved the finishing and atmosphere ('as if you're really in an Egyptian tomb'), though the technology sometimes failed and it got cramped with more than four players. The venue has since closed; the own website is offline and Dutch escape room directories list it as 'closed', without public explanation.
