Vroeg is first and foremost a farm bakery and restaurant in Bunnik, which offers as a group activity the outdoor adventure Escape van Fort Rijnauwen: a puzzle trail on and around Fort bij Rijnauwen, the largest fort of the New Dutch Water Line (built from 1868 onwards, once home to 540 soldiers and 105 cannons). After a welcome drink and thorough briefing at the restaurant, you head out with your team onto the fort grounds to crack riddles, codes and ciphers; each solved checkpoint provides the next clue. To be fair: this is more of a treasure hunt than an escape room — you cover considerable distances, there's no game master in the field, and the activity is seasonal (roughly mid-April to late September) and weather-dependent. Reviews are sparse; the most common complaint is precisely this mismatch in expectations ('not a real escape room'). For corporate outings and family days the format works well: beautiful nature, a unique piece of 19th-century military history and a long social afternoon with food and drink included.
