Kartfabrique / Prison Island

Utrecht 1 room

About this venue

Prison Island at Kartfabrique is not a classic escape room but a challenge complex with 39 cells spread across three floors, described by the venue itself as a cross between Fort Boyard and an escape room. Teams of three or four players unlock cells with an electronic key and collect points through physical, technical, and tactical tasks lasting one to five minutes each; the scoreboard is the goal, not a door that opens. There is no storyline or historical period, but plenty of variety and genuine competition between teams, and it can be combined with go-kart racing and laser games. Visitors find it enjoyable even on a second or third visit and appreciate that all ages can participate; criticism comes during busy times when cells are occupied and for cells where the task is unclear.
