Mama Bazooka on Nijverheidsweg in Bunschoten-Spakenburg, founded in April 2013 as Escape Room Nederland, is the most acclaimed escape venue in the country. The Laboratory Room is considered the Netherlands' first escape room, The Girls' Room (2015) tells an emotionally intense horror story about an orphan girl, and The Dome (2019) was voted the world's best escape room two years running (TERPECA 2019 and 2020). The rooms work without actors: tension comes entirely from seamlessly hidden technology, light and sound, where each solution triggers a new scene. Visitors give almost uniformly top scores (TripAdvisor ~5.0, 9.8 on Facebook) and praise the puzzles, atmosphere and service; afterwards you watch camera footage of your scare moments in your own screening room. There is criticism too: Room Escape Artist found the Laboratory Room's story thin and the ending abrupt, and some visitors find The Girls' Room overhyped compared to The Dome.
