Borne's first and only escape room (opened in 2021) is housed in the Kids City play park and revolves around pirate captain Blackbeard: you're locked aboard his ship, caught in the middle of a shaky alliance between treacherous pirates and a massive treasure. Standout feature: the welcome — a costumed pirate tells the legend in a ship's tavern before the doors lock. Reviewers on escapetalk are notably enthusiastic: the story runs as a thread throughout the entire room, the handmade sets are packed with details, and the puzzles are more original and challenging than average ('absolutely belongs in the top 3 best escape rooms'). Criticism focused on the amateur shell around it: no professional hint system and an informal welcome. In late 2024, the creators handed the room over to Kids City / de Borrelboot; the room continues running, complete with a themed ribs-and-beer package.
