City Escape Steenwijk

Steenwijk 1 room

About this venue

City Escape Steenwijk is a city game on escape room lines through Steenwijk's historic fortified centre. The story leans on a real local hero: Johan van den Kornput, defender of Steenwijk against the Spanish in 1580–1581, is said to have cursed the city—an invisible dome traps everyone, and your team must follow his trail within the game time (roughly 90 minutes of play, about 2 hours total) to break the curse. You play with tablets and prop-filled backpacks; two or more teams of 4 to 15+ people race the same route simultaneously, against the clock and each other. Participants mainly enjoy it as a fun way to see the city from a fresh angle, with varied tasks and plenty of opportunity to chat—more a sociable group outing than an immersive escape experience. Arrangements range from the game alone to a full multi-course dinner.
