Urban Legends City Quest is a young Amsterdam provider of outdoor city games centered on genuine urban legends. The main game 'The House with the Blood Stains' revolves around the true story of Mayor Coenraad van Beuningen, who after a mental breakdown allegedly drew occult symbols—according to legend in his own blood—on the façade of his canal mansion on the Amstel; the house still stands today. With a mysterious chest full of age-old puzzles and letters from Van Beuningen himself, you follow a 2.5 km route past six locations in the historic city center (120–150 minutes, teams of 2–5), a blend of escape room, geocaching and murder mystery with a plot twist at the end. There is also the guided walk 'The Legends of Amsterdam' covering 750 years of city legends. The review base is still small but flawless: TripAdvisor 5.0 (100% recommended), with much praise for the seamless blend of fact and fiction and the guide's historical knowledge.
