About this venue
FORTtreffelijk is an event venue at Fort Markenbinnen (built 1895–1905, part of the UNESCO Stelling van Amsterdam), a quarter hour from Alkmaar and Amsterdam. The two physical escape rooms are built in the fort's original casemates: in 'De Krijgsgevangenis' you escape as a captured military unit with help from an insider of a previous breakout, and in 'Ontmantel de Bom!' you must defuse a WWII bomb within the hour. The fiction fits what the building once actually was, and reviewers mention surprisingly much hidden technology in the historic décor. Visitors especially praise the atmosphere of the fort and the friendly, well-organised staff; it is a popular spot for children's parties and corporate events (also with VR escape games and laser games). Experienced players find the puzzles rather thin — multiple groups finished early and expected more depth.
