Escaperoom Blackout

Amsterdam Closed 1 room

About this venue

Escaperoom Blackout on the Amsteldijk was claimed to be the world's darkest escape room: one room where you and your crew had to complete jobs for the organisation in Amsterdam of 1979 โ€” in total darkness, unable to see anything. The most striking element was the blind and partially sighted guides who walked in the room as host, hint-giver and safety net; the concept came from the makers of the dark dining restaurant Ctaste and had a social mission. The space closed on 13 May 2019, when the founders chose new activities with greater impact for people with sensory disabilities โ€” not a scandal, but a conscious strategic shift. Few reviews have been preserved; the experience was regarded as intense and unique, but for beginners the complete darkness with sparse hints could feel more frightening than fun. The official website is now offline.
