About this venue
The Throwback was a historical escape room in the basement of Café-Restaurant De Wildeman in Vierlingsbeek, one of the oldest brown cafés in the Netherlands. The room was built entirely around the real, 200-year history of De Wildeman (hospitality on this spot goes back to the 16th century) and was created for the 200th anniversary in 2023. With a team of 3-5 players you descended into bygone times and tried to find your way back to the present within 60 minutes; the self-estimated difficulty was 'hard' (€20 p.p., from age 12). Public reviews of the room itself were virtually absent, so this remained an under-documented location. The room now appears to have closed: De Wildeman's website has been converted to a regular café-restaurant site with no reference to the escape room, although the room is still listed as active on some external directories.
