Prison Escape was not an escape room but a large-scale immersive theater experience in Breda's historic Koepelgevangenis (a real domed prison from 1886, in use until 2016). Up to ~350 participants per session were 'booked in' as new prisoners, issued uniforms and given three hours to escape from a fully staffed prison with around 80 actors as guards, fellow inmates, gang leaders and fixers. There are almost no slot puzzles; the puzzle is social โ figuring out which actor to bribe, trading contraband and moving between patrols โ and you can genuinely fail and stay 'inside'. Visitors and press consistently call it the most impressive escape experience in the Netherlands, praised for the actors, scale, freedom and replayability (a different story each time). The Breda location is now closed (the building became a hostel); the concept relocated to the former Pieter Baan Centrum in Utrecht.
