Gebaarderei was not a fixed escape room but a mobile concept that has traveled throughout the Netherlands since 2017 from Tilburg: the room 'Unlock the Signs' was set up in a space chosen by the client. The theme was communication itself — speaking is forbidden, so you had to solve the puzzles together using body language, mime and sign language (Dutch Sign Language). It was often combined with an interactive sign language workshop of about an hour and had a mission: to lower the threshold between deaf and hearing people. Participants called it inspiring, educational and especially hilarious, with much praise for the instructors themselves. Meanwhile, gebaarderei.nl is no longer reachable and there are no recent bookings, social media or news indicating ongoing business operations.
