Escape Room 040 was located in the basement of an old nightclub beneath Eetcafé Barney's near Eindhoven train station, as part of an entertainment center that also included axe throwing and VR. The location is now permanently closed (Dutch listing sites marked it as non-existent around 2024–2025). There were four rooms — Moriarty's Secret Study (a 19th-century detective study), The Submarine/Sub Chaos (nuclear threat aboard a Soviet submarine), the weaker The Secret Tomb (Egyptian tomb), and The Mysterious Temple — plus a rentable Enigma box and the outdoor city tour 'Beleg van Eindhoven'. The aggregate score was around 6.7. Reviewers praised the immersion of the newer rooms, teamwork required, and friendly staff, but complained about worn materials, very dark rooms where décor obscured the puzzles, technical failures, and inconsistent service.
