Mystery House is housed in the old cinema of Valkenburg and is considered one of the best-rated escape rooms in the Netherlands — number 1 in Limburg on TripAdvisor (4.9/5) and 9.6 on escaperoomsnederland. All rooms are based on real films or true stories: the Bokkenrijders (Carpe Noctem), the disappearance of Amelia Earhart (The Lost Flight), the Zodiac killer (The Zodiac Letter) and the undercover journalism of Nellie Bly in an asylum (The Asylum Revealed). Owner Rik is repeatedly praised as a born storyteller: the passionate intro and debrief are part of the experience. Visitors praise the immersion, historical authenticity and loving décor; the only criticism concerns the somewhat clinical feel of Asylum and a hint system that occasionally doesn't keep up with fast teams. Master Mind (1-2 players, no hints, ~6% escape) is marketed as 'unique in Europe'.
