About this venue

De Schat van het Verleden is an escape game within De Vondst, Limburg's provincial archaeology center in Heerlen. Launched in June 2019 as a public activity to attract new visitors to the archaeology story, this is not a locked room but a game in public space: clues are hidden in the ordinary, working center, invisible to other visitors. A secret society called Custos has hidden a treasure; players decipher archaeological clues throughout the building, deliberately designed as a 'Da Vinci Code experience.' The game lasts 60 minutes for 3-10 players (15+, difficult) from โ‚ฌ15 per person. A family review gave 7/10 and called it 'well made,' but too difficult for the recommended audience โ€” in 2020, no team had yet escaped within the hour. Online presence is thin and the separate booking site appears to be offline; status is uncertain (escaperoomsnederland still lists it as bookable).
