De Graasj in Roermond wasn't a real escape venue but a family entertainment complex (restaurant, indoor play area, creative studio, gift shop) with one escape experience attached. The game Rat Race Roermond XL Escape Town was an XL competitive format for 10-32 players, divided into four teams in a shared 'escape town' where teams could see and hear each other, with a live scoreboard. The theme was local-historical: after the great Roermond fire in the 16th century, nuns, bandit Schinderhannes, witches, and townspeople competed for gold to rebuild the city. The escape room has since permanently closed (listed as closed on escapetalk and Morty) โ it left barely a trace in the Dutch escape community: zero reviews on escapetalk before closure. The complex itself lives on with its restaurant and play area.
