About this venue
Escaperoom Nijkerk is a temporary (pop-up) escape room that Lionsclub Nijkerk builds for a few weekends in a special historic location, with proceeds going to a good cause (the Bach Consort Nijkerk). The 2025 edition 'Reveal the Secret of the Atomic Bunker' took place in a real Cold War atomic bunker beneath the old town hall: a team of resistance fighters must restore power, get a radio connection working and find safe houses to liberate the occupied city. Characteristic are the authentic, period-accurate tasks (switch sequences, tuning a radio to the right frequency, code-breaking) in a real heritage space. Previous editions took place in an orphanage (2022) and the bell tower of the Great Church ('Save the Carillon', 2024) — all sold out within 24 hours. The concept is especially praised for its authenticity and good cause; the only real criticism is scarcity: many people simply couldn't get tickets. After the 2025 atomic bunker run, no new dates have been announced.
