About this venue
Escape Veessen is the passion project of Berend Jan Tessemaker, who spent years single-handedly building a complete Western town in a shed at his campground in the IJssel village of Veessen; the doors opened in April 2024. In Escape the Wild West (180 m², 90 minutes) you land in 1850 in the abandoned Dusty Creek, where you wander through saloon, houses, station, and church in search of hidden gold and the stories of disappeared residents. Visitors are enthusiastic: the room ranks around 9.5 on escapetalk, with near-perfect scores for service, and in 2025 this village project even made the worldwide TERPECA top list (#83). Praised are the decor, the owner's hospitality (including appetizer board after finishing), and the density of theme-fitting puzzles; with just two players, the room is quite challenging and sometimes it's unclear which puzzle is already solvable.
