Escape Room Zuid-Friesland in Scherpenzeel, opened in December 2014 under the Stellingwerf name 'Et Proeme Nust', was Friesland's very first escape room — young local entrepreneurs brought the 'real-life puzzle sensation' to the Groote Veenpolder. Alongside the original room came Café de Koers, about village café owner Sulke in 1976 who had a lucrative side hobby besides pouring beer, and the Family Room, where professor Zwefer must be stopped from his brain experiments. The handful of preserved reviews are strikingly warm: 'very well-constructed puzzles', deceptively tricky rooms and service that scored 10 twice, though seasoned players felt the décor and finishing could be more polished. The venue has since closed — a first-generation countryside room 'in the middle of nowhere' that quietly disappeared as the market professionalized, leaving barely any online traces.
