Escape Makkum

About this venue

Escape Makkum is a small-scale escape room at recreation park De Holle Poarte in Makkum, built in 2021 by two friends who assembled the rooms in their free time. There are two rooms: in 'De Legende van De Zwarte Valk' you are a crew member in 1872 of a ship that runs aground on a reef just outside Makkum harbor and must find the second lifeboat within an hour, while 'Het Mysterie van Adieu 112' takes place in an abandoned cottage on the campground itself. Visitors and local press call it thrilling and ingeniously thought out, with puzzles creatively woven into the theme and a surprising ending in the Zwarte Valk. An aggregate score on escapetalk is still missing, but reactions are mostly positive; only the story of Adieu 112 do experts find a bit familiar.
