About this venue
Escape de Bunker plays on a unique location: the actual underground solitary confinement corridor from 1875 of the former prison Blokhuispoort in Leeuwarden — ice-cold, damp cells with only a concrete bed, straw mattress and a bread-and-water regime. You have 45 minutes to escape from four mysterious spaces; the building itself is the story, no invented fiction is needed. Since August 2025, the free walk-in escape rooms have been replaced by five free online smartphone games (including Escape '40-'45 and Ghost); physical play is still possible through group arrangements starting with 10 people (€42.50 per person, 3 hours) in which a prison tour is combined with the game. Visitors particularly praise the combination of tour and game; as a standalone escape room destination for enthusiasts, the offering essentially no longer exists.
