About this venue

Escape Route Nieuw Land (opened June 2024) is a cross between an escape room and a nature walk of about 4 to 5 km through the Kotterbos, on the edge of the Oostvaardersplassen near Almere. The team that created the world's largest man-made nature reserve has gone missing; along the way you open with one special key a series of Escape Boxes, each dedicated to one team member, with tasks from thinking puzzles to laser beams — and so the origin story of National Park Nieuw Land unfolds, including a meeting with engineer Lely. It's a fully self-guided game by Stad & Natuur and Staatsbosbeheer, aimed at families, school classes and team outings. Review data from enthusiasts is missing (no escapetalk or TripAdvisor mention), but press and forest ranger blogs are unanimous in their enthusiasm about the combination of nature, polder history and puzzling.
