Escape Rooms bij At Sea

Dronten โ˜… 9,1 (9.1/10 (14 reviews, escaperoomsnederland)) Closed 1 room

About this venue

At the beach pavilion At Sea on the Drontermeerdijk in Dronten, a surprisingly excellent escape room was hidden in the restaurant for years: De Collectie van Dr. Bahrenheit. The story revolved around ex-surgeon Fritz Bahrenheit, who after early retirement built one of Europe's most impressive private art collections โ€” allegedly including paintings looted in WWII โ€” and only let guests in 'under strict supervision'. Visitors were remarkably enthusiastic (9.1/10 on escaperoomsnederland): thrilling from start to finish, varied and challenging puzzles, staff who played along with the story, and coffee with pastries upon arrival. The room quietly disappeared around 2025 โ€” after a substantial Social Deal discount in late 2024 โ€” and no longer appears on the current At Sea website; the restaurant itself remains open.

What visitors say

  • Gripping story from beginning to end, with an original opening and closing and staff who played along
  • Well-varied, definitely not simple puzzles (minimum age 16, difficulty level 'hard')
  • Warm hospitality setting: coffee and pastries upon arrival at the Drontermeer beach
  • Some rooms looked rather cluttered
  • Could have used more puzzle density; occasional long moments of being stuck
