De Uitbraak is the escape room experience at the National Prison Museum in Veenhuizen, played out in eight cells of De Rode Pannen — a genuine former prison complex on the UNESCO heritage site of the penal colony. You are pushed through the Dutch legal system as a suspect: first a courtroom scene where historical cases and sentences are read aloud, then a guard escorts you to the House of Detention, where you crack codes with cellmates to escape before your sentence falls. The gameplay itself is classic padlock-and-cipher work; the location is the production value, and the package (including museum tour) takes around three hours.
